Kelly Heber Dunning - Communities of Coral: Analysis of Ecosystem Services
Published on by Stan Bronson, President & CEO at The Institute for Climate Innovation in Academic
Kelly Dunning's presentation examined the scaling of natural resource management policy in developing countries, and used a socio-ecological systems approach to analysis. Her research uses ecological data, as well as qualitative and quantitative stakeholder data in order to show that devolved control in resource management in developing countries increases adaptive capacity, legitimacy, and innovation opportunities. The case studies used for the work included villages along the rapidly urbanizing coasts of Indonesia and Malaysia, home to some of the world's most biodiverse ecosystems that are disappearing at an alarming rate.
