Fan Zhang, Assistant Professor at University of Southern Mississippi
About
Fan was born and raised in Shenyang, China. After she got a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from University of Shanghai for Science and Technology in Shanghai, China, she traveled to the US for graduate education. She got a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Kansas, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. Fan joined University of Southern Mississippi as an assistant professor at the School of Construction and Design in 2016. During her years in the US, Fan has developed the enthusiasm in teaching, research, as well as interests in many outdoor activities, namely hiking, running, rock climbing, snowboarding, scuba diving, fishing, and hunting. Fan’s research interests include sustainable construction, construction safety, highway work zone safety, partnering, and construction education and training. Fan is constantly looking for new research ideas and would like to keep an open mind and be a lifetime learner.
