NEWS NOTES ON SUSTAINABLE WATER RESOURCESMicrobiota and Oil and Gas WastewatersExamining Shifts in Stream Microbial Communities Exposed to Oil and Gas Wastewaters  Shifts in the overall microbial community structure were present in stream sediments that contained chemicals associated with unconventional oil and gas wastewaters. This work is part of a long-term study designed to understand persistence of chemicals from oil and gas wastewaters in sediments and water and how those factors might be related to exposures and adverse health effects, if any, on organisms.  Microorganisms are vital parts of stream ecosystems. Hello this is a project that the technical man shows little of the disrepute of the characteristic - organic - on our planet. 
Is it mandatory to do research, to invest in studies to understand that all the chemical spilled in our environment has an impact on our health sooner or later. 
This chemical is found in underground water reserves, in natural surface water environments, in agricultural land, in the air we breathe. 

It does not take rocket science to understand this.
