NEWS NOTES ON SUSTAINABLE WATER RESOURCES Idaho Waterscapes https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S146290111830042X Historical water availability and use in Idaho can be analyzed by examination of such factors as surface runoff, climate, land use, engineering structures and government policy. This article treats all of these factors. Although there has been little water scarcity in the last half century, it is prudent to attempt a forecast to the next half century, if only to have early warning of possible problems. Change may occur in the timing of surface water availability due to possible earlier snowmelt, and reduced summer surface water availability. The authors conclude that Idaho is well positioned to make institutional and policy decisions to secure its own water resources in the face of changing environmental conditions and resource-based water demands.
