NEWS NOTES ON SUSTAINABLE WATER RESOURCES  GAO Report on Corps of Engineers Water Pricing  http://www.gao.gov/products/GAO-17-500?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ; US Government Accountability Office, Army Corps of Engineers, Better Data Needed on Water Storage Pricing, Report to Congressional Requesters, GAO-17-500, Aug. 2017.  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stores water for municipal and industrial water users—such as local water utilities—in its reservoirs, dams, and other civil works projects. In return, water users agree to cover the costs of the project.Corps officials and water users told us that these project costs vary; but when we tried to examine to what extent, we found that the Corps' water storage agreement data were insufficient. Corps officials said some factors can contribute to the variation, such as projects' original construction costs and the effects of inflation.We recommended ways to improve the Corps' data and water storage pricing process.This study will also be linked on the 2017 Reports and Publications Page of the Sustainable Water Resources Site at https://sites.google.com/site/sustainablewaterresources/ ">https://sites.google.com/site/sustainablewaterresources/ ; Tim SmithSustainable Water Resources CoordinatorGovernment Web Site, https://acwi.gov/Sustainable Water Resources Site, https://sites.google.com/site/sustainablewaterresources/ ">https://sites.google.com/site/sustainablewaterresources/ ;
